MGTC’s role extends beyond Malaysia’s borders in promoting local green products and services. Shouldering this market expansion responsibility, MGTC explores opportunities on global platforms to introduce local companies and facilitate business partnerships.
In 2019, MGTC was given the role as implementing agency for Malaysia’s participation EXPO 2020 Dubai that was held from 1st October 2021 to 31st March 2022 after a one-year delay due to Covid-19.
The theme of the world expo was “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” with sub-themes of Opportunity, Sustainability and Mobility.
Malaysia positioned itself though the pavilion as a dynamic and progressive nation driven by science, technology and innovation as well as being an attractive place to invest in, to engage in business, for education and to simply visit.
The Malaysia Pavilion featured a Net Zero Carbon Rainforest Canopy Pavilion under the broad theme of “Energising Sustainability”. This was further segmented into four supporting themes, namely “Energising Today”, “Energising Tomorrow”, “Energising Harmony” and “Energising Business”.
As implementing agency, MGTC’s role included to plan and coordinate 26 weekly thematic trade and business programmes led and supported by 5 state governments, 21 ministries and 70 agencies. The programmes’ objective was to provide access to global markets to local industries and it was participated by about 400 Malaysian promoting over 10 sustainable industry verticals.
MGTC and the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) hosted strategic discussion topics to promote trade and business over four weeks at the EXPO 2020 Dubai, details as below:
