KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) — Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) strengthened its commitment to Malaysia’s green future through several strategic partnerships at the MGTC Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on the first day of International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia 2024 (IGEM 2024).
Through a collaborative approach, MGTC and Bank Islam Berhad will help SMEs and non-SMEs explore low-carbon practices. This partnership offers advisory services and training programs in green technology, green procurement, and GHG emissions reduction while fostering awareness of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. Additionally, the initiative will promote the MyHIJAU Mark Certification, supported by cross- branding on Bank Islam’s SMEXpert mobile application.
In an exciting effort to empower communities to adopt a green lifestyle, MGTC has partnered with Pertubuhan Pengurusan Pasar Malam Kuala Lumpur (PMKL) to embark on making night markets sustainable through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) witnessed by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad. This collaboration will focus on public awareness campaigns, waste reduction, and reducing carbon emissions.
The initiative, which will be implemented by 2025, aims to empower vendors and shoppers to champion sustainable practices. MGTC and Milan Utama are working to promote portable energy storage devices to replace diesel-powered generators, improving the night market ambience by minimising noise and air pollution.
“Today’s strategic partnerships underline MGTC’s holistic approach to sustainability, where we engage communities, industries and financial institutions in the green transition. By working with PMKL, we are bringing sustainability to the heart of daily life, while our agreements with Milan Utama and Bank Islam will push forward innovations in green technologies and financing. These collaborations offer environmental and economic benefits, ensuring that all sectors of society play a role in our Race Towards Net Zero,” said Ir Ts Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor, Group Chief Executive Officer of MGTC.
