Kuala Lumpur, 26 August 2020 – MGTC, an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) has held a Hi-Tea event today with media practitioners. The event aims to acknowledge the role of the media as the primary source of information to government policies and programs implemented by government agencies.
The event, which took place at the Mandarin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur was attended by 50 people involving media practitioners from Bernama, Berita Harian, RTM, TV3, TV9, Kosmo, Harian Metro, New Straits Times, Sinar Harian, Astro Awani, The Star, and The Edge Daily. The event objective is to appreciate media contribution for the publicity they have presented as well as provided the medium for both parties to get acquittance as well as socialize.
YB Dato ‘Sri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, Minister of KASA commented, “The media acts as a liaison that brings the Ministry closer to the community through coverage and analysis organized especially by KASA and its agencies through initiatives throughout the year”.
He was present as the guest of honour with YB Senator Dato ‘Dr. Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad, Deputy Minister of KASA believes in the importance of the bilateral relationship between the Government and the media to convey clear and concise news so that the people can feel the wave of change implemented by the Ministry.
Earlier Ts. Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor, Chief Executive Officer of MGTC delivered a brief explanation on the function and role of MGTC to the attended guest. He hoped the event would intensify efforts to shape the community’s perception of MGTC programs, especially towards the development of green technology and climate change adaptation.

Formerly known as Pusat Tenaga Malaysia (PTM), Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (MGTC) was restructured in April 2010 and was under the purview of Ministry of Energy Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) till 2018. Assuming the role of the country’s lead agency, MGTC focused on catalysing green technology agenda in line with the aspirations of the National Green Technology Policy 2009. For the period of 2018 till early 2020, MGTC was under the purview of Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change (MESTECC). Now, MGTC is under the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) and known as Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre. As the lead agency for KASA, MGTC develops and implements programmes on green growth, climate change mitigation and climate change adaptation.
