PART 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 ABOUT THE SECTOR 01 According to data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia , OUR POPULATION reached 32.7 MILLION in 2021 02 The fisheries sector remains an IMPORTANT INSTRUMENT to produce food and nutrition , generate incomes , and indirectly improve the welfare of its communities 03 The fisheries sector also plays and important role in the ECONOMY’S COUNTRY through its contribution to national income and turnover exports and job creation The fisheries sector in Malaysia plays a crucial role in ensuring food security, supporting the income of fishermen, fish breeders, and fishery entrepreneurs, and driving the sustainable growth of the industry. However, to ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of the fisheries sector, the adoption of green practices is imperative.
