Green Practices Guideline for Fisheries Sector

The scope for Energy in the Fisheries sector includes four sub-indicators: Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Energy Management System, and Emission Reduction. SUB-INDICATOR REQUIREMENT OBJECTIVE EVIDENCE FOR ASSESSMENT EXAMPLE GREEN PRACTICES ENERGY EFFICIENCY Targeted percentage of electricity and fuel consumption reduction achieved by the organisation • Meter energy usage readings • Bills of quantities for fuels • Certificate of Analysis (COA) for fuels • Use any energy efficient appliances or automation system such as meter energy, real-time water quality monitoring in order to reduce the energy cost of aquaculture farms. RENEWABLE ENERGY Targeted percentage of renewable energy used by the organisation • Meter energy usage readings • Bills of quantities for fuels • COA for fuels • Use any renewable energy technology such as solar or biogas for aquaculture operations. ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Demonstration of the Energy Management System set up within the organisation Records supporting the setup, operation, and performance achieved by the Energy Management System • Implement policy or guideline specifically energy saving/ energy efficiency i.e., implementation of waste-to-energy practice. EMISSION REDUCTION Targeted percentage of emissions reduction achieved by the organisation GHG Inventory reports • Implement GHG Inventory for the aquaculture sector (conduct monitoring and suggest continual improvement for emission reduction). 41 GREEN PRACTICES GUIDELINE FOR FISHERIES SECTOR (AQUACULTURE)
