Progress In recognition of efforts undertaken to transform cities into low-carbon metropolises, MGTC together with the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change (MESTECC) organises the annual Low Carbon Cities Awards. Diamond Recognition is awarded to local authorities, universities and special regions that have implemented low-carbon action plans and achieved a reduction in carbon emission. Provisional Certificates are awarded for the establishment of carbon emission baselines and development of low-carbon action plans. Efforts Undertaken To Transform Cities Into Low-Carbon Metropolises 2019 Highlights The Low Carbon Cities 2030 Challenge (LCC2030C) was launched by the Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change (MESTECC) which sets the target of attaining 200 Low Carbon Zones and 1,000 Low Carbon Partners by 2030. The 10 Low Carbon Zones that received the Diamond Recognition can be referred to appendixes on page 141. Collectively, these low carbon zones have reduced a total of 47,705.78 tCO 2 e across 4 elements (energy, water, waste and mobility).
