The Malaysia Pavilion at COP29 underscores the country’s commitment to sustainability as it prepares for the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. With the theme “Shift for Sustainability – Climate Action Now!”, Malaysia aims to showcase its climate action milestones, promote its advanced sustainable practices, and advocate for stronger intergovernmental cooperation on green initiatives.

Aligned with Malaysia’s climate objectives, the pavilion supports the theme of the 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship, “Inclusivity and Sustainability”, and calls for enhanced cooperation among ASEAN members. Malaysia is also advocating for decisive action on sustainable development, environmental protection, and social equity to achieve net-zero goals across the region, in line with the ASEAN Community Vision 2025.

Located in the Blue Zone at COP29, the pavilion serves as a platform for advocating collective climate action, with a focus on climate finance resilience, renewable energy advancements, carbon markets, biodiversity protection, youth empowerment, and circular economy initiatives.

The event features a series of keynotes and panel discussions with distinguished speakers, including representatives from Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), Ministry of Economy, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, ICLEI South Asia, and more. These discussions will focus on building climate-resilient cities in Malaysia through collaboration with regional and global partners.

A regional panel, moderated by GIZ ASEAN EU-German Climate Action Programme, will explore ASEAN’s climate ambitions, with insights from Malaysia’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, as well as representatives from Brunei, Indonesia, and Singapore.

The agenda will also address transboundary climate risks in Southeast Asia, featuring experts from the Global Resilience Partnership, Stockholm Environment Institute, and Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

The Malaysia Pavilion is led by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC). The pavilion’s participation is supported by key industry players including Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), PETRONAS, Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank), and others.
